Tattnall County, GA:
Disaster Recovery – Hurricane Idalia

In August of 2023, Hurricane Idalia impacted Tattnall County causing vegetative debris and damages to roads and culverts as a result of strong winds and rushing floodwaters.

Situation

Tattnall County needed to recover costs accrued by the County to safeguard public health and safety and restore disaster-damaged facilities to their original design and function. The projects also included a request for 406 Mitigation funding.

Task

iParametrics was tasked with supporting disaster response, recovery, mitigation, and preparedness efforts. Additionally, they were tasked with interpreting and applying pertinent laws, policies, rules, regulations, and guidance from federal and state emergency management agencies.

Action

iParametrics organized and prepared the required summaries and documentation based on the types of costs being submitted to the FEMA Public Assistance (PA) program. Two of the projects included a request for mitigation. We successfully disputed that FEMA had misinterpreted its own policy in requiring studies and demonstrated that the policy was not being applied properly.

Result

iParametrics effectively developed and managed projects within Grants Portal, ensuring they reached the obligation stage. This process included responding to all requests for information. Four projects were successfully obligated for a total of $201,373.32, the full amounts requested, including approved mitigation work. There is still one project pending for $972,392.66.
