Brenda Matthews is a seasoned FEMA Public Assistance Specialist with over 18 years of experience in disaster recovery. Her work began after Hurricane Katrina and spans multiple major disasters, including Hurricanes Rita, Maria, Michael, Ian, and Idalia, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. Brenda has successfully supported federal recovery efforts across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, securing millions in funding through FEMA PA, CDBG-DR, and HMGP programs. She has guided public and nonprofit clients through complex grant processes, from site inspections and project formulation to compliance and closeout. Brenda holds a Paralegal Certification and has completed FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute training. A University of Louisiana–Lafayette alumna, she brings analytical rigor, deep regulatory knowledge, and a commitment to helping communities rebuild stronger.
