Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB):
Risk Assessment & Resilience Plan
The Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB), serving over 501,000 customers in Tennessee, engaged iParametrics to support capital planning, utility system upgrades, and operational resilience. This multi-phase effort included risk modeling, infrastructure vulnerability assessments, and financial analysis to enhance critical service continuity.
Situation
KUB faced increasing regulatory demands, infrastructure aging, and natural hazard exposure. To proactively manage risk and future investments, the agency required expert technical support to assess and improve planning, operations, and long-term system resilience.
Task
iParametrics was tasked with delivering tailored technical services under a two-year agreement. Assignments included risk assessments, capital upgrade analyses, resilience planning, and financial modeling. Each was aligned to enhance utility readiness across multiple departments.
Action
Using DOE and DHS risk models, GIS-based vulnerability tools, and collaborative technical sessions, we developed actionable solutions. Iterative reviews with stakeholders ensured alignment, while structured reporting and scoping kept KUB leadership informed throughout project execution.
Result
iParametrics delivered strategic plans that strengthened KUB’s ability to prepare for and recover from emergencies. Completed projects included infrastructure risk evaluations, upgraded financing models, and emergency preparedness frameworks. All contributed to a more resilient utility system.
