Perry County, Kentucky:
Disaster Recovery
In February 2025, severe flooding devastated Perry County, Kentucky, affecting multiple towns already recovering from a 2022 event. Lacking a formal EOC and ICS familiarity, local officials required urgent field-level support. iParametrics rapidly deployed to conduct damage assessments and bolster the local response effort.
Situation
With floodwaters cresting at 29.5 feet and impacting judicial and business districts, Perry County faced infrastructure strain, severe access issues, and staff unfamiliar with FEMA protocols. Community needs outpaced local capacity for assessment and coordination.
Task
iParametrics pivoted from expected ICS support to lead preliminary Individual Assistance damage assessments using FEMA’s Survey123. Their mission: deliver accurate data to inform federal recovery decisions in a remote, hard-hit region.
Action
The team arrived within days, conducted 203 in-person assessments across hazardous terrain, and liaised with residents, NGOs, and local officials. They worked in challenging winter conditions and used local advocacy and professional conduct to navigate trust and logistical barriers.
Result
iParametrics delivered timely, reliable data that helped guide FEMA decisions. Their flexible, community-sensitive approach earned praise, deepened local partnerships, and opened doors for future emergency management training in Perry County.
