West Virginia Governor’s Mansion:
Security Assessment
The West Virginia Governor’s Mansion, a 21,000-square-foot historic building in Charleston, required a comprehensive security assessment to modernize its infrastructure. iParametrics was selected by the General Services Division to evaluate vulnerabilities and develop a tailored, preservation-conscious upgrade plan.
Situation
Aging surveillance systems, access controls, and electrical infrastructure limited the security and operational reliability of the Governor’s Mansion. Officials sought independent analysis to assess current systems and recommend viable modernization options.
Task
iParametrics was tasked with delivering a full security and electrical inventory, assessing the condition of assets, and providing upgrade pathways including cost estimates. All recommendations had to comply with historic preservation requirements.
Action
We conducted a two-phase assessment, including onsite inspections, documentation of system deficiencies, and cost modeling for three upgrade scenarios: basic repair, selective modernization, and full replacement with open-architecture systems. A certified historic preservationist ensured alignment with regulatory standards.
Result
The project was completed on time and budget, delivering actionable insights without disrupting daily operations. iParametrics’ recommendations enabled the State to confidently plan and budget for improved security while honoring the site’s historic character.
