Yellowstone National Park:
Emergency Operations Plan
Yellowstone National Park, covering over 2.2 million acres, needed a modern Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to manage risks from natural and human-caused hazards while protecting millions of annual visitors and fragile ecosystems. iParametrics was selected to develop a comprehensive, NPS-compliant EOP to strengthen preparedness and continuity.
Situation
The park required a robust EOP to address wildfires, earthquakes, and other emergencies. Its geographic scale, ecological sensitivity, and visitor volume demanded a plan that integrated federal emergency standards and operational coordination across multiple agencies.
Task
iParametrics was engaged to review existing documentation, assess risks, align with FEMA CPG 101 guidance, and develop an actionable EOP. The work included stakeholder engagement, tabletop exercises, and plan delivery in formats suitable for real-time updates and use.
Action
Our team conducted plan and data reviews, GIS-based vulnerability mapping, stakeholder interviews, and planning workshops. We built custom functional annexes, facilitated an HSEEP-compliant exercise, and delivered editable documentation for future revisions.
Result
The finalized EOP enhanced interagency coordination and emergency readiness. It provided Yellowstone with a practical, standards-aligned plan that protects life, property, and the park’s natural assets while ensuring compliance and long-term adaptability.
