Maine Emergency Management Agency:

Grant Writing & Management

The State of Maine’s Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is tasked with lessening the effects of disaster on the lives and property of the people of the State of Maine through mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. This work involves a variety of federally funded grants that the State can apply for and distribute as needed.

“I wanted to reach out to (first) thank you for all of the great work you did assisting us with NSGP FY23 applications – your efforts made the process much smoother by allowing us to focus on the small details instead of much larger application aggregation and technical assistance. Part and parcel to your assistance, we were able to submit the application well in advance of the 18 May due date.”

Joe Legee, Deputy Director, Homeland Security Division, State of Maine

Situation

Following a major disaster, the State of Maine was tasked with managing multiple federal grants tied to emergency preparedness, homeland security, and disaster recovery. The complexity and urgency of these programs required expert support to ensure timely, compliant applications.

Task

iParametrics was engaged to support MEMA in writing and managing grant applications, including Homeland Security and FEMA programs. The goal was to help the State and nearly 50 non-profits apply for and manage over $2.2M in available funding efficiently.

Action

We delivered end-to-end grant case management and conducted threat assessments, assembled security upgrade scopes, submitted applications through the state portal, and ensured compliance throughout the process. We also supported FEMA Public Assistance efforts after severe winter storms.

Result

All applications were submitted ahead of deadline, with streamlined reviews and high-quality documentation. The State reported significantly reduced administrative burden, citing our work as a key reason for early and accurate submissions.
